Privacy Policy for MindStateLabs

MindStateLabs BV (“MindStateLabs,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use any application in the MindStateLabs suite for Android and iOS (each an App, together the Apps).

The suite currently includes MindStateApp (MindState: Binaural Beat Studio) and MindStateTinniTuner.

The short version: our Apps need no account, show no ads, and keep your mixes, settings, and listening data on your device. We use a small amount of anonymous analytics and crash reporting to keep the Apps working well, and nothing else.

Language. This Privacy Policy is drafted in English. Any translation is provided for convenience only. If there is any discrepancy or conflict between the English version and a translated version, the English version is the authoritative source and prevails.

1. Data Stored on Your Device

Your content and settings are stored locally on your device. Depending on which App you use, this may include:

  • MindStateApp: mixes, settings, preferences, imported audio files, mix artwork, and listening history.
  • MindStateTinniTuner: tinnitus pitch tuning, chosen sound mixes, session settings, progress log entries, and optional daily check-ins.

This data:

  • Is created by you and stays on your phone or tablet
  • Is not uploaded to our servers (we do not operate application servers for the Apps)
  • May be included in your device’s standard system backup, under your own device settings
  • Is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear its data

2. Analytics and Crash Reporting

The Apps use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how each App is used and to fix crashes. Through these services we receive:

  • App interaction events, such as playing a mix, using editors or soundgarden features, starting a tinnitus session, or visiting a paywall
  • For bundled content, the identifier of the mix or session that was played; for content you create yourself, only coarse metadata (such as duration or category), never the name or detailed content of your mix
  • Crash reports, including stack traces, device model, and operating system version
  • General device and app information, such as app version, device type, language, and country
  • Pseudonymous identifiers used by Firebase (including, on Android, the advertising ID) to distinguish devices; we use these for analytics only, never for advertising

This data does not include your name, email address, contacts, precise location, or the contents of your mixes, audio files, or tinnitus tuning details. We use it solely to improve stability and usability of the Apps. Data is processed by Google on our behalf; see Google’s privacy policy and Firebase privacy documentation for details.

3. Purchases

Optional subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see or store your payment details. Each App stores only your entitlement status (for example, “subscribed”) locally on your device so your purchases keep working offline.

4. Permissions

Each App requests permissions only when a feature needs them:

  • Camera (MindStateApp): used only while you scan a MindState QR code to import a mix. Camera images are processed on your device and are never stored or transmitted.
  • Photos / media: used only when you choose an image from your library as artwork for a mix, or pick an audio file for a mix in MindStateApp. The selected files stay on your device.

You can use the core of each App without granting optional permissions.

5. Sharing

When MindStateApp lets you share a mix as a QR code or link, the shared data contains only the mix definition (tracks, frequencies, timing). It contains no personal information. Sharing is always initiated by you, through the share options you choose.

MindStateTinniTuner does not expose a public sharing feature for your personal listening data.

6. Website Contact Form

When you submit the contact form on www.mindstatelabs.com, we receive the information you provide (such as your name, email address, phone number if supplied, and message) so we can respond to your inquiry. That data is delivered to our inbox through a transactional email provider acting on our behalf. We use it only to reply to you and do not add it to marketing lists.

7. What We Do NOT Do

  • No account creation or login
  • No advertising networks and no ads
  • No sale or rental of data to third parties
  • No access to your contacts or location
  • No microphone recording

8. Children’s Privacy

The Apps are intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through account registration or contact forms in the Apps. Analytics data we receive is pseudonymous and cannot reasonably be used by us to identify any user, child or adult.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the European Union), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because the Apps store your content on your device and our analytics data is pseudonymous, the most effective controls are in your hands: you can clear an App’s data or uninstall it at any time, and reset your device’s advertising ID in your system settings. 10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when the Apps gain new features or when new Apps join the suite. If we make changes, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
